New Abstract Paintings

I’ve been working on a series of abstract paintings, which is new to me.  I’ve always loved abstract paintings by other artists, but never been able to find a way in to creating them myself.  I finally have and I’m loving it.

I painted over some old works and just started “messing around”.  Instead of just covering over an entire canvass, I drew swathes of paint across the canvass with a pallet knife. I kept working and kept obscuring the image.  There is a fun aspect for me, in that I can still see remnants of the old image underneath.

One day, I looked at my studio and noticed I’ve created 10 to 15 new abstract paintings.

It’s been fun to create these paintings.  I love painting expressively while utilizing the same techniques I’ve fallen in love with for years.  Currently, these paintings are very red and consist of a plaid pattern.  In the future, I plan on building off of this start and see where that leaves me.

I’m excited to share these with the public as well.
