Narrative Painting Series
I recently sold these paintings during an open studio event. I never showed them in a gallery since they kinda need to be demonstrated.
There is an interactive element to these paintings, in that, they can be moved around in the frames to be in any order. They can be displayed vertically or horizontally. The owner of the works can put them in any order to change the meaning of the story.
I got the idea after selling several unrelated pieces that the buyer hung together. I was excited about making several images that were meant to relate to one another. At one point each images literally had a line going through it, like a phone or power line, but was really meant to represent a throughline of a story.
I was playing with the idea of narrative in oil paintings. This was a fun series that I wanted to share. I didn’t make more which is probably due to the fact that I didn’t want to spend all my time making frames.
