Skinny Guy
Oil on Panel
The “skinny guy” is a recurring image that I have explored. The weird Pez guy are very simplified figure, usually without arms.
I’ve created rows of skinny guys, large skinny guys, small skinny guys, and other versions. The shorthand image represents a figure of a person and if seemingly identical to other skinny guys. Each one, though, is unique. This is partially dealing with the contrast of individuality and conformity.
The dark eyes and minimal features lets the viewer fill in the gaps with their own interpretation. Is this creepy, funny, strange, or uninteresting. Personally, I will probably always be exploring and creating these figures.
The orange background was chosen because I really like that color. The warmth of the color brings a new element to the skinny guy.
